Office Shredders
Small Office Shredders
Small, or "light duty" office shredders are used for desk-side shredding, or small-department shredding operations. Small office shredders are frequently placed next to the copy machine for that "extra" set of copies that was produced. When choosing a small office shredder, consider possible increases in the size of your business or department.
Medium Office and Heavy-Duty Shredders
Medium office shredders are built to handle the greater shredding requirements of departmental shredding operations or medium-scale offices. These shredders are also made for EDP, or continuous-form printouts. Medium office shredders feature metal gearing, large motors and cutters, and larger cabinets which require fewer receptacle changes than small office shredders.
Large Office Shredders
Large office shredders are used in departmental or centralized shredding operations. These shredders have stronger motors resulting in higher capacity ratings over medium shredders, and can accept a "handful of paper" with each pass, making them very economical if a large volume of paper must be shredded. Large office shredders can destroy a cabinet drawer's worth of paper in a matter of minutes, and many shredders of this class also offer a conveyor or hopper feed, for higher volume shredding.
In addition to continuous-duty, high-capacity designs, a single large
machine offers the following advantages over a series of smaller shredders:
- business owners have greater control over the shredding process
- reduced labor time involved in shredding
- reduced capital expenditure over purchasing many small shredders
- reduced maintenance over smaller, lower priced machines
